Malia Barto has been teaching for three years and volunteered with our program for four years. She started skating at the age of four and has competed and performed in many competitions and shows throughout Alaska. She is currently working towards her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

My name is Tia Gore, I am 18 and have been an instructor here at the Mac since 2016. I have been skating for 12 years and am currently a triple gold medalist in Ice dance, Solo Free Dance and Moves in the Field. I have competed Freestyle, Pairs Ice Dance and Solo Ice Dance. Figure skating is not only my career path but my passion. I also coach private lessons outside of Learn to Skate for all levels.

Marie Liley
Carissa Anderson has been teaching with us in our Learn to Skate program at for us since 2018. She has over 18 years of coaching experience with USFS and ISI, has successfully coached skaters through USFS senior level. She has trained throughout Alaska, Utah, Idaho & Canada. She has produced multiple State & Regional champions, served as show director multiple times and has extensive music editing experience. She was head coach of Utah State University figure skating class for 10 years and coaches all ages and levels. She is available for private lesson and her rate is $60/hour.

Ben Klusewitz has been teaching for one year and volunteered with our Learn to Skate program for one year beforehand. He has been skating for over five years, competing at Sectionals and Nationals twice. Ben is a high-level freestyle skater and an ice dancer in addition. When not skating, he enjoys videos games and playing with his cat, Jill.
