Reid McDonald, General Manager
Reid McDonald is the son of Harry J McDonald, who the center is named after. Growing up in hockey Reid played for Bartlett High School and for Michigan Tech University where he graduated with a marketing degree. Reid has been managing the McDonald Center since 1997.
With three sons, all involved in hockey, Reid is actively involved in development and coaching youth teams. If he’s not here working, he’s here at the center coaching! Reid also enjoys mountaineering, playing guitar, and is well known for his home brew beer.
Karen Chaperon, Office Manager
Karen Chaperon join our staff in February 2017. She and her family have lived in Chugiak/Eagle River since 1994. She has spent many a winter sitting at the Mac cheering for her children as they played hockey. She is happy to be working at a place that means so much to our community!
Jasper Garrod, Maintenance Supervisor
Jasper Garrod grew up in Eagle River and graduated from Chugiak and has played hockey all his life. Jasper started working at the Mac 19 years ago and moved into supervisory positions in 1997 and into his current position in 2011. When he’s not working at the Mac he enjoys all terrain vehicles.
Travis Martin, Facility Maintenance
Travis Martin is from Eagle River and came to work at the Mac because he loves hockey. Travis is the newly appointed player development coach for Mustang Hockey Association. In addition to Travis’s love of the ice, he can also be found fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Sarah Devereaux McCormick, Skating Director
Sarah is a coach, choreographer and skating director from Eagle River, Alaska. Sarah began her own skating career at the age of 5, here at the MAC, enrolling in the ISI learn-to-skate program shortly after her family moved to the great state of Alaska. Her competitive career included five trips to the U.S. National Championships, three U.S. National Championship medals, USFS quadruple gold medalist ranking in freeskate, figures, dance and moves-in-the-field, ISI freestyle and figure 10, guest performances at three ISI World Team Championship Education Foundation Benefit Shows, and the opportunity to appear on television competing against Olympic medalists such as Michelle Kwan and Tara Lipinski at the 1998 U.S. National Championships.
Sarah holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and is so proud to be the skating director for the Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center, where she is accompanied by a wonderful staff of instructors. When Sarah is not on the ice, she can be found running and spending time with her beautiful family.
Sam Setters, Facility Maintenance
Sam Setters is a long time Eagle River resident and McDonald Center employee. Sam has been working here for 11 years. Sam likes working at the Mac because of all the good memories. Sam is also a big football fan so enjoys the new turf and all the sports that take place here at the Mac.
